Attendance Policy
You Are Important!
Our attendance policy is designed to emphasize each person's importance to the group. All members are expected to be at all rehearsals and performances unless excused in advance by the director. There are very few excused absences for performances.
Performances
If a member has to miss a performance, a parent must contact the director before the planned absence AND submit a note to the director. The only excused absences for performances are funerals, weddings in the immediate family, military duty, personal illness, or school-sponsored events arranged in advance with the director and other advisor. If an absence is due to personal illness or emergency, an effort must be made by a parent to contact me immediately. Unexcused performances during the school year will have a substantial negative effect on a member's grade.
Rehearsals
Although the majority of our rehearsals take place during the school day, after-school rehearsals are occasionally scheduled. All rehearsals are required events and students and parents must arrange their schedule so members may attend. Doctor/dentist/orthodontist appointments should be arranged around after-school rehearsals and will only be considered excused if every effort to schedule around rehearsals have been made. Other excuses that are not acceptable are work, babysitting, and lack of transportation. Please have alternative transportation arranged in advance for after school rehearsals and events.
Excuse notes for after-school rehearsals need to be presented to the director 48 hours in advance of the absence for approval. Unexcused rehearsals during the school year will have a negative effect on a member's grade. If an absence is due to personal illness or emergency, an effort must be made by a parent to contact the director immediately.
Mark Your Calendars To Avoid Conflicts
Please mark your calendars well and avoid conflicts by planning ahead and communicating clearly with the director and other advisors/sponsors/coaches.
It is the responsibility of the director to notify students as far in advance as possible of rehearsals and performances, and it is, in turn, the responsibility of the student to arrange his or her schedule.
